Dinner & Discussion topic: How America Talks (Differently) about Slavery

From its beginning, slavery has had profound and lasting influence on US history. The compromises with the slave holding colonies needed to get the constitution ratified has influenced much of the country’s political history and is embodied in society’s current tensions between critiquing and celebrating America’s history.
In commemoration of Juneteeth, the Kenmore Community Club is proud to host this talk, “How America Talks (Differently) About Slavery” by Dr.R. Charles Weller, Ph.D., associate professor of History at Washington State University, and Senior Research Fellow, at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
